Summer Days

I love, love, love summer!  I love the unexpected little rainshowers, the long days, the fresh fruit and produce, road trips with my family, and yes, call me crazy, but I even love the heat.   Of course, I know it will end soon.  Children will go back to school, cool crisp winds will blow and I will be just as excited about the fall.

But for now, I'm going to bask in the sunlight and cram as many little trips and summer activities into my schedule as is humanly possible.  This week, I gathered my little chicks together and we headed over to Paris for a day trip.  We spent the day with my sisters-in-law and my brother-in-law and had a great time!

   Here's Michael enjoying the pool...

His mom and Aunt Melanie had a great time, too!

And then, yesterday, Michael and I took  one last trip over to Ham's Orchard in Terrell.  The orchard is only open from May 15th through August 15th, so this was our last chance to pick up some nice, sweet peaches and eat some of their delicious peach ice cream.

Even in the 100 degree heat Michael really enjoyed the treat!

I brought back a whole box of peaches and today I'm going to freeze some, make some jelly and a nice big cobbler...

After we came home, we got to spend the evening cuddling with sweet Lilly...

You can't beat that for a fun, summer day!

Monday Musings - Blogger News

Two of my favorite bloggers are holding special events this week.  Teresa over at nanahood.com is having a big birthday bash on Wednesday to celebrate the one year anniversary of her Nanahood blog.  Check out her blog all day for some great prizes!

Also, Laura over at heavenlyhomemakers.com is celebrating with a Back-2-School bash this week.  Laura will be having several giveaways and all of the "school type"  items in her store will be on sale at 20% off!
Laura has just created a new preschool curriculum for children ages 3-7 that focuses on letters and letter sounds while teaching children to serve others. I've reviewed her sample lesson and it looks like excellent material that could be used by parents, grandparents and Bible school teachers.  You can check out this great sale by clicking on the link at the top of my side bar on the right of my blog. When purchasing, just add the items to your cart, then enter the code: BACK2SCHOOL to receive 20% off your purchases!

You'll want to check out both of these blogs for daily tips on parenting and grandparenting, along with some healthy recipes from Laura.  Both of these women will inspire you to be a better parent or grandparent!
